Hell no. The mechanic is rolling you on labour. The idler and pitman arm are no-brainer jobs, a straight up nut and bolt swap. About $40ish for a pitman arm and $50ish for the idler arm...

About $80 in parts and an hour and a half or so to do it (won't take that long with a lift tho)
the idler can usually be rebuilt with a bushing kit that cost 10 - 20, the pitman is 40-50. both can be changed in less than a hour for both. Even with an alignment that is too high. That is the "I am not interested in doing this job, but if he agrees to the price, I'll do it" job quote. He figures if he does any work on this truck, that you will come back and blame him for every other thing that breaks on it for the rest if it's life.
