    1978 Jeep DJ-5G

My mom works for USPS and she had to have her own vehicle, and we found a Jeep DJ-5G for $500, it uses a Audi I4 at 121 ci, and uses a torqueflight 904. The audi engine runs ok, but it is loud, shaky and noisy, as a joke I told my mom we could drop a 4G63, or a G63B in her jeep. Then I actually thought about it, and has anyone done anything like this with a CJ-5, They are exactly the same, just the DJ is a right hand drive and the top obviously doesn't come off. I think it would be way better than the Audi I4, considering the mitsu engine has a balance shaft and runs much better than the Audi in my opinon.

If you swap the 2.0 or 2.6 with an auto into the jeep, it would work with driveshaft and motor mount mods. Are you sure that is an audi 4 banger - most of them were Pontiac iron duke engines, although I wouldn't be surprised if it is an Audi, depending when it was built and if it was built by amc jeep or am general. I have also seen these with amc 232 and 258 straight 6 motors with 904 autos; just another path to explore.

Yes, 100% sure, it is an AM General built Jeep, half of it is metric and the other half of it is standard, due to it having an Audi in it. I guess they refer to it as a AMC / Audi 121 ci I4, My moms is a 1979 Jeep DJ-5G, but the title says 1978, although the vins match, thats why I put 1978.

Pics of the engine? The 5G model was in the era of 6-cylinder. By the 1981 model, the 6-cyls made way for the AMC 191-ish ci 4-cyl engine with a computer controlled carb. AM General was Chrysler-owned at this time, and most of the underpinnings were mish mash of AMC and AMG.
