    Benefits of a 4 speed?

Are there any benefits to a 4 speed? Better gear ratios? Reliability? Anything?

No benefits to using a 4 speed. They were intended for a lower torque/HP engine so I'd be concerned it would hold up. The 5 speed will take a heap of power but it needs something like a TUFFPAN bolted to it to prevent the case from flexing (I'd estimate it would cope with 200-250 HP before the case would flex, causing the gear teeth not to mesh properly and consequently stripping them). LSRMike's truck build is testament to that.

That's what I figured. But I have both of them sitting here and I was curious
