AW 372 Auto Good or not?

I have 2 of the AW372 auto tannys and was wondering are they worth rebuilding or is there a better choice out there? Anybody have a opinion or experience chime in.

that is the same as the Nissan 300zx of the same time period, so there are some parts still out there. Force 10 transmissions used to sell a shift kit and rebuild kits a while back, but haven't looked in a long time to see if there are still available.

Is it a tranny worth rebuilding or is there a better one that will work on my 2.6 ?

what mods on the 2.6 ?
AW sounds like a toyota/aisin warner tranny... probably same as toyota truck. Solid units
Starions used the jatco like the 300zx. Stong when moded. Turbo tq far greater
Boosted application trannys are usually beefed up oem vs na versions

I have one of these in my '89 2.6 The transmission is getting close to 240K miles. What is the longevity on these units? It was maintained by the previous (original) owner. I changed the filter and a gallon of fluid about 20k miles ago. Fluid looked clean and not much clutch material in the pan. I'm thinking about possibly removing the trans this summer and replacing the clutch discs before failure. I do occasionally tow about 2k lbs behind the old girl. If these things last to 300k miles regularly, I wouldn't bother. If they normally have given up the ghost by now, I'm on borrowed time.

Dropped off a KM 145 at Midwestern trans N of Rochester (Best place around for manual repairs) and asked about the AW372, Scott said a rebuild was $600-$800 for a clean up reseal and $1200 for a total rebuild with up dates!

Just got the motor back with a $1200 bill on that not sure I want to put that much in a truck with cab hail damage. It's a shame as the bed is mint best I have ever come across. Not sure what way I will go now.
