The jet valves were only a part of the problem. They can burn out and also stop sealing adequately which will cause oil consumption issues much like a normal valve seal will when they fail. The biggest issue are the heads themselves. To accommodate the jet valves and internal galleries, the castings have all these cavities and increased stress points in the combustion chambers.
