Will a stock non turbo 4g63 head fit a stock g63b block with stock pistons?
Will a stock non turbo 4g63 head fit a stock g63b block with stock pistons?
As long as both assemblies are 6 bolt blocks there won't be a problem. There are differences between 6 and 7 bolt engines like oil gallery reliefs, dowels and head bolts.
That is a good question. Looking at images of the stock 4G63 cast pistons, they have reliefs for the valves so I am going to say...no. BUT the stock 4G63 pistons run a higher compression ratio of 9:1 compared to the 8.5:1 of the G63B SOHC engines (this may be the loophole that will allow the necessary valve clearance to swap the heads). So I can't be sure I looked at the DSM tuners site and this subject was touched on albeit on the 2.4 and no mention was made of swapping pistons - http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/can...-block.100056/
Has anyone here actually done this swap!? I'm kind of feeling like the answer is no and they just use DSM motors.
A majority of the swapped trucks opt for the turbo, or more then 4 cyl. Only one I remember here was I think a 4g dohc non turbo but I believe he used a dohc piston set as well. Theory was talked about on projectzerog but looking though the project cars, all 4g63t.
I found a head on a 89 galant that look identical to my 92 mighty max head except for it has roller lifters had anybody tryed the swap
I got my G63B head from these guys. https://www.ramscyl.com/Web%20pages/Mitsubishi.html He was knowledgeable he could probably answer your questions.
updates?
I may be attempting this head swap swap. I will document everything.
