    Automatic 2WD Extension Housing Seal

I'm new to the forums so sorry for just posting this question. I bought a 1988 Ram 50 2WD Auto. My transmission extension housing seal needs to be replaced. I have the seal, however the seal puller I have for the extension housing does not fit between the output shaft and the seal. As an added nuisance, the dust shield does not help with getting the seal out to install the new seal. Does anyone have any advice on getting the seal out?

The dust seal (the pressed on metal shroud) can be tapped off and on with a hammer and timber drift so you can get access to the seal. Just don't go medieval on it. It will give you a chance to clean all the crud off it too.
