2nd gen diff in 1st gen chassis?

Hi guys, Theres a few 2nd gen trucks over here with LSD rear diffs (2wd in this case) and iv been offered one from hub to hub for a good price.

Just wanting to confirm if they are a direct swap?

How about for the hand brake cables and brake lines?

they will swap over with minimal effort - the 2nd gen drums are bigger, but everything else is the same. Check the gearing - most of the LSDs I have seem are 4.22 vs the 3.91 in the 2wd trucks.

original commodore diff would have been 3.08 and i have much larger tyres

Actually I just found that the truck it was in had the same engine swap but with a manual box, so it sounds like it could be a good option
