    Windshield Trim Removal

    Hi Guys,

How can I remove the metal trim strips around the windshield without damaging them?

I want to clean them up and reinstall them.

You just pry them out they're held in by little plastic clips but they'll most likely break. They sell replacements though I think there's a a link in my thread "leaking windshield" on the 2nd gen board.

I pulled the trim off today. I managed to get them off without breaking any clips.

The trick seems to be to twist the trim inward toward the windshield while prying the outer edge with a screwdriver. Or better yet, use something plastic instead so you don't scratch the paint. I'm getting ready to paint so I didn't care.

The hard part was pulling the trim away from the windshield at the same time. The adhesive strip underneath was still very strong. I ended up with a couple of bends but I hope I can work them out.

Glad to hear you got them off. I lost mine last week on the highway and had to order replacements all my clips are broken except for the center... and its rusted all the way through
