Intake Problems

So with no luck I've been trying to fix the vacuum leaks on my intake. The Mikuni Phh intake sucks to work on because there is no way to take it on and off with out disassembling everything. I'm running out of patience for these carbs and am starting to wonder if its worth the hassle. Would I be better off to cut my losses and put the factory intake back in? I still have the manifold and the replacement weber looks far simpler than dealing with the dual carbs. Would I be able to return to the factory intake without the factory cam?

Yes - you may have to rejet the weber to go with the cam, but most cams for the 2.6 are not that radical, so try the weber as is first. Dual carbs look cool, but getting and keeping them in tune can be a full time job, especially with today's ethanol fuels. The Mikuni intake may be warped, or it twists when everything is bolted in place, causing your leaks.

Well, nothing is warped as far as I know, but I think the Weber is going to be my choice of solution. The stock manifold is far easier to work on, and if I get a handful of mounting studs it should make things go smoothly. Plus, trying to make this a daily driver, i think the ease and economy of the weber lends itself more to my needs. So all that said, you guys may be seeing a John Baker intake and twin mikunis for sale, gotta cover expences somehow.
