Electric fan conversion, where are you tapping for the thermostat?
Looking to do an electric fan conversion on my 2.0, where are you guys tapping for the thermo probe? I was trying to avoid the push into the fin type, and use a thread in, but where to tap in? Are some replacing the rad drain bolt with the probe and using adapters? From the description, it sounds like these sensors need to be threaded into something that can served as a ground, so I can't use one of those radiator hose split adapters like you could for a temp gauge. Is there another easier accessed coolant passage?

The dsm water outlet pipe has a thermoswitch on it. If you can get a fan switch you can possibly T your coolant temp sensor. I remote mounted my coolant sensor with a 1/2 npt female brass T fitting but it's been a while since I seen the fan switch that I don't remember if the thread is the same.

You can swap your thermostat housing from an EFI engine and it will either have a thermo switch screwed into it or a bolt as an air bleed point. Option #2 is take out the temp gauge sender from the base of the thermostat in the manifold and insert the thermo switch in there. It is better to use a location where the thermo switch will remain submerged in coolant even if there is a leak in the cooling system as it will not function if dry. Option #3 is to take out the radiator and get a shop to braze a threaded bung into the bottom tank and install it there. I personally recommend having an override switch wired into the dash just in case you have one of those moments and it looks like your engine is about to go into catastrophic fail mode. It might make the difference between just running it hot to cracking the head...

Cut a small section out of the upper radiator hose, insert the adapter and install the temperature sensor. Works like a champ.

True, but from Amazon I didn't have to wait 3-6 weeks for it to get here!
Also, for the 2.6L, get a 36mm adapter. I had the 32mm version at first and it's too small for the upper hose. I'm not familiar enough with the 2.0L to know what size it requires.
