    Clutch or Transmission Going out

I have been noticing what I understand to be the clutch slipping. It only happens in fourth and fifth gear on the freeway but when I hit the gas hard there is a decrease in power and the engine starts to rev higher. I have a 1985 50. Would this bee the transmission of the clutch failing?

This will be the clutch IMO. If the transmission was faulty, it would just give out and lose all drive output.

What you describe are classic symptoms of the clutch worn down to its rivets. Be sure to first check clutch adjustment, but everything points to a worn friction disk.
