Fi 2.0
How hard would it be to put a 2.4l fuel injection on a 2.0? How does the injection in a 2.4 work, would I need a 2.4 head? Its just an Idea I had and depending on how difficult it is and how eaisy I can get the parts I may try it.
Thanks

the 2.0 are carbureted Mike, he wants to change over to FI.
You would need the ECU and wiring harness for the 4g64 engine, intake manifold/throttle body, fuel rail and injectors, o2 sensor, and the 4g64 head also as I believe the injectors fit into the head the same way they do on a 4g63.

Oh, Yep, this is a G63B, I should have said it was carbed. oh, I would have to have the head too. Thats the hard part, the scrap yard rarely gets any eclipses or anything with a 4g63 or a 4g64.

Actually according to a guy on another site the 2.0 and 2.4 heads are the same or practically the same. So i guess you wouldnt need the head just all the associated items like intake mani and such, exhaust mani is the same.

it must be off a truck block 2.4; the car intakes are different from what I have seen...

Where do the injectors go? Are they in the head or are they part of the intake manifold?
-
I believe they are in the intake manifold.

Thanks LSR Mike, That's pretty cool, so converting a 2.0 carbed to Fuel Injected doesn't seem to be that hard to do. So if I were to do this how does it know when to inject fuel? Is there a Camshaft Positioning sensor, or is it just a constant flow of fuel from all of the injectors? Also what all sensors would I have to install to make it work correctly?
Thanks,
Andrew

You would need every sensor the 2.4 has and also the ECU and wiring harness to properly control everything

Thats what I figured. If I were to do this I would be starting out with a "Clean Truck" meaning I dont have have the wiring harness or computer from the old carb. and it looks as if it would be pretty simple to do. So what kind of injection is it? Is it Continuous injection or is it sequential? Also what about the fuel delivery from the tank to the engine, would I have to have new lines for the increased pressure a fuel injection pump puts out or would it be able to use the old fuel lines?

Or you could just use a stand alone. I run Megasquirt II on my MPI 2.6 Turbo block.

Oh, That sounds awesome, it might be something i look into, my engine is almost FUBAR. If I can I may just get a 2.4l from the scrap yard.
