    My 91 mighty max build

Picked up a 91 MM v6 4x4 today, she has some pretty bad cancer in the frame. That will be where I focus my attention first. I ordered body lift block to try and do a bodylift the old fashion way 01515_7UN9emghGxn_600x450.jpg 00808_6OY7e4ofmUj_600x450.jpg00505_5oK0CeDOMQf_600x450.jpg

It's a shame the frame has got rust issues. The body and cab look like they're in decent condition - but that rear bar looks scary. You'd wanna make sure your tetanus booster is up to date (just pretend you've bought a Mustang )

So i drove the truck to work last night and filled up the tank on the way get to work to figure out the real reason the guy was selling the truck. The fuel tank is bad i lost about 3/4 of a tank over night on the ground. I think I have a solution though by running a bronco 2 tank for 23 gallons or maybe a full sixe bronco tank for 33gallons going to get both from the junk yard and see which one fits best

Good luck. It's a good looking truck. Hopefully the frame rot isn't too deep.

Why not stay with Mitsubishi and use a Montero or Montero Sport frame? There's only ~2" difference in the wheelbase. 105" for the Max vs 107" for both Monteros, if I remember correctly.

Montero sports are on mighty max frames - both are 108 wb for standard cab long bed, or macrocab short bed same as Montero sport

Are you sure about that? The Montero Sport / Challenger / Nativa would have been on a variation of the 3rd gen L200 frame, which we didn't get in the US. The measurements I have say the short cab/ short bed Max is 105.5" wheelbase, macro cab / long bed is 116" and the Montero Sport is 107.3". The full size gen 2 Montero is 107.3" as well. This is all from the respective factory service manuals.

I could be wrong, but I thought they were on 2nd gen l200 frames - I will have to check next time I am near a Montero sport.

The Gen 2 L200/Max ended production in 1996, right when the gen 3 L200 and Montero Sport entered production. They started building both of them in 1996 as 1997 model year vehicles.

I found a 2 wheel drive truck i think in going to use the rear section of its frame to fix my truck. Fyi a 78-79 bronco frame is almost identical in dimensions to ours onlt a 1/2" difference in wheel base. Thiis may be a future swap of mine but this truck is mainly going to be a DD with minor trail time so dont think illl be going that far at the moment

I'm using a '78 Ford regular cab shortbed. I think it's got 117 in wheelbase or something, maybe 115 in. Can't remember which. Got the frame painted , just need to blast the little things like cross members and spring hangers, because I completely stripped it. Once I get it done, I'm dropping the body on it and sticking with a ford drivetrain. It's coming along slowly, if only I could get my sand blaster working right.... But you could even use newer shortie f150's or whatever. They're all about the same, at least up to '96, don't know about the newer ones!
