    Lifter swap question

First off, I'm sorry, I've searched and searched without an answer to this, a friend has a 2.6 in an 88 d50 with a lifter tick, does anyone have a link or info on the 3g or what it is that the lifters will fit, getting rid of the tick?

you could always switch to adjustable ones out of an earlier model they will make some noise but it will be normal. i don't know if a set of 3g lifters will fit. when i did my valve stem seals i went ahead and threw in a set of eBay lifters in. they would tick for a bit of time afterwards but eventually stopped. how loud is the tick? it could be that you are just running the wrong oil in it. try bringing the rpms up a bit say 1500 and see if it goes away. ive been using castrol gtx high mileage 10w30 in my truck and it has almost completely stopped leaking/consuming and does not tick. hope this helps out.

Throw a quart of Rislone in in place of 1 quart of oil on the next oil change - it will clean out the lifters unless they are worn out.
