    Tailgate skin

So I just got my tailgate skin. I know to cut the old skin off around the top and sides about 2 inches from the ends. But for the bottom, what is the best way to go about that? grind down the welds and take it off? let the skin just overlap the bottom and weld it to it.

So, I dove in and just started cutting. Posting pictures for anyone else that may want to do this and have some look on what to do. Got the skin from grant. Fitment was near perfect. I took the whole outer skin off the tailgate by drilling out the spot welds then slowly bending the metal from around the sides to free the two pieces of metal.

inner tailgate skin with bottom painted where alittle rust was.

Tailgate handle relocated to back side.

inner tailgate put on truck just because.

And the skin that's going on.

I already have it in place and 3/4 done. Have some body work to do where its welded on the inner top lip. Ive also got the shaved roll pan to go on as well. Should be pretty straight forward.
