My truck is a 5 speed manual. I had trans work done and the guy is saying it's still popping out of first and thats the reason I brought it to him in the first place(1st and 5th to be exact but now after the rebuild just popping out of 1st). Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I had a new clutch put in it also along with the rebuild. Thanks in advance

It's tough to say without actually seeing the trans. It's possible the teeth that engage the 1/2 slider to 1st gear are worn down, warped or otherwise damaged. It's also possible the shift fork is worn and isn't fully engaging the slider into the gear in the first place.

Can you get a list of what the guy replaced and ask to see the old parts?
