    Parts list

Installing a head and new timing belt into the truck. I need help coming up with a full parts list so I don't have multiple trips and days waiting for parts to come in.

The VRS kit should have valve stem seals, head gasket, manifold gaskets and the cam seal. You should buy new head bolts (some guys say yes, others say it isn't necessary). If your hydraulic tappets were noisy, replace them or soak them in a bath of diesel fuel and squeeze them to clean out the baked oil and free them up before priming and re-installing them (there's bound to be a thread on it somewhere here...). Replace the rocker cover gasket - and make sure you get one with the half moon seal for the back of the head. Get a timing belt kit with everything - timing belt, balance shaft belt and tensioner. And now is as good as any time to think about replacing the water pump. That should have you covered

I don't have a link on hand but ebay is always a good start. Guys here have bought kits and would be better equipped to tell you what to (and what not to) buy. Valve stem seals have been a bone of contention so make sure whatever kit you eventually buy, they've got good quality seals in them.

Exactly how accurate is the timing indicator on the timing cover. I was pretty sure I had everything positioned correctly when I put the new timing belt on. Double checked everything. It seems to run just fine but the marking on the timing cover would lead me to believe that its set at around 5 degrees after TDC.
