    Hello from Atlanta!

This truck was used as a farm truck for quite a while. It ran well when i bought, but around a year ago it decided to go crazy! SO... entire new brake and fuel system later, the engine sounds terrible. I'm pretty good with electrical stuff, but engines are not my forte. I'm considering a swap because my neighbor has a small block chevy 350. Any thoughts on the matter? I love the way these trucks are engineered, but the swap is instantly more power...

Going for a V8 swap you'll need to factor in all the other stuff - beefing the front suspension for the added weight, modified transmission x-member, tail shaft mod, rear end upgrade, BIGGER and BETTER brakes etc. If you only worry about the go stuff, the whoa stuff and turning will come back to haunt you very quickly due to how light weight these trucks are. Anyhoo welcome to the site!

if it is running bad, sounds like the ECM has capacitor issues. We have threads on that...Welcome to the forum!

Sorry it took me so long to reply, summer semester just started. Here's some pics though.123.jpg124.jpg125.jpg126.jpg127.jpg128.jpg225.jpg This forum has been such a help all ready, I'm going to start trouble shooting the vacuum system and for a possible blown head gasket. Thanks for being so welcoming!

The V8 swap is beginning to look beyond my current price range, and i haven't been able to find a trans to match. Maybe one day...

    truck looks in good shape.

can't believe i let mine sit on ramps like that for almost 4 years......

I finally got it off there and am dd it, but 10 miles to the gallon, sheesh, seems i still have a little work to do.

Yeah, mine sat for a year and a half. It's been quite a bit of work getting it even running. But 10 mpg?!? I wonder what that's all about

I think I may have some sensor issues. I do detect a small exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold and pipe connection.

    Or computer problems.
