Jeep 4.0 Straight six into a MM?

I know custom mounts would be needed and etc, but I'm curious if a Straight Six from a jeep would even fit? I hear more than enough stories about the 4.0 being able to get 300,000+ miles and figure the amount of HP and Torque would more than suit my needs.

there have been one or 2 others that have talked about the swap, but none completed that I know of. Anything can be done with enough skill and a big enough crowbar...

it is so much longer that the 360 I put in one truck... it can be done but you will certainly be mounting the rad and the fans ahead of the rad support to do it..

Look under the hood of a Jeep and take some good measurements to compare to what you have

I'm pretty sure it's too long. I got the 2.5 out of a cj7, back when jeep was actually jeep (when amc still owned it). I used the t4, slightly modified the mitsu t-case and it married right up to the t4, had to lengthin the rear driveshaft and shorten the front, but she's in there, you can go look at my pics if you want.

Other than space the other reason why I personally wouldn't do this swap is it will end up transferring weight further forward of the front cross member. Not great for handling...great for towing and torque though

As far as the longevity is concerned, a friend of mine had a 1999 grand Cherokee with the H.O. 4.0 and 300K+ on it. It started making a odd rattling noise which turned out to be part of a piston skirt - motor still ran fine but he figured it was time to stop running it

Buy a jeep if you want the I6. I have a 98 xj and love it. By the time you get done cross breeding it you will have already paid for one.

Might be easier to set your body on a jeep frame.
