94 Mighty Max 4G64 Ground Up Biuld

Found a 94 Mighty Max 4G64 and got it to do a dohc turbo swap. It didn't look to bad when got it, engine bay was dirty a few dints and a bit of rust here and there,
    IMG_0404.jpgIMG_0412.jpg
until I got it home and pulled the bed off, the frame from the cab back was pretty bad.
    IMG_0409.jpgIMG_0411.jpg
So we cut the frame off at the cab and built a new frame.
    IMG_0426.jpgIMG_0427.jpgIMG_0434.jpg
Then we put in a 4 link with QA1 coilovers, a Ford 8.8 rear end out of a Explorer with the 4.10 gear lsd D2 axle code and Enkei PF01 17x9.5 wheels.
    IMG_0417.jpgIMG_0418.jpg
For the front I got some custom QA1 adjustable shocks, 2" drop spindles, Montero big front brakes, 6 to 5 lug adaptor and Enkei PF01 17x8 wheels.
    IMG_0442.jpgIMG_0445.jpgIMG_0464.jpgIMG_0449.jpg
Next will be the engine bay and interior.

For the interior I have a 87 Supra parts car I got the seats and center consul.
    IMG_0415.jpgIMG_0456.jpg
For the engine bay I cut out all the brackets it was pretty bad under the battery mount. I cleaned it all up and repainted it
IMG_0659.jpgIMG_0660.jpgIMG_0664.jpgIMG_0663.jpgill try to fix the last 2 later
I put in Equus 8k tack, AEM a/f gauge, Glow Shift boost gauge and Dragon oil presser gauge.

It's shaping up nicely MT. Always like a bit of custom fab work. Lucky you didn't decide to just drive it as it was - that rear frame looked like it was ready to collapse! The Supra seats and centre console are a massive improvement. I'm looking at a floor hand brake set up as I really hate the chinese laundry thing under the dash but that'll mean no centre console for me unless I can find one that everything will line up on.

20151229_011341.jpgDon't know why some of the pics are uploading upside down or how to fix them.

All I have left is the exhaust and ecu/relocate and wire tuck. From the few runs iv done down the street to get the base tune in she's insanely fast and fun ill try to upload some videos later.

Thanks. Ya my friend did a really good job on the frame and suspension I love how it turned out. Ill probable put in a different e-brake sometime that "Chinese laundry thing" keeps giving me problems.

You know your way around DSM stuff. This is gonna be a little rocket with the gear you've collected. I just hate the parking brake on these things. Other than being overly convoluted and complicated, there are too many places where it can fail. I've thought about going hydraulic but those set ups are illegal under my local regulations. btw I think you can use the EFI manifolds from a Sonata or an Optima to save having to cut and shut the stock manifold. I think it depends on how the coolant ports are located on your head.

It is definitely a blast to drive I got on it hard in 4th gear at 60mph to see how it would do and it started smoking the tires and going sideways

Nice you did a waste gate that dumped back into the exhaust not a screamer pipe. Overall nice looking project!

When I compare the new engine bay layout vs factory, the transformation is brilliant. It looks sooo much neater (I know you haven't got the wiring 100% under control yet). Any reason why you decided to relocate the ECU to the engine bay?

Great build, inspiring. I have an '88 and a '95 that I can't wait to swap. Maybe 4g63t and 4g64the l, respectively... Is Bill Hincher still making those custom bellhousings??

I decided to move the ecu to the engine bay to get rid of some of the wiring with the alternator relocated to the driver side the o2 sensor is the only wiring on the passenger side so I was able to get rid of a lot of the wiring and clean it up a lot.

As far as I know bill is still making the bellhousings I got mine from him a couple of months ago.

Awesome build man, looks very clean and love that you built up the engine/tranny with good parts. That thing probably gets down!

    LMAO MightyTurbo64,
    What?!!, only a 20 second vid, & a 1-2 shift & Lift ?!!
Find a longer 'safe' road ... Ya see I am a bit selfish, I want
to see what happens when the 'Warp Drive' engages!

A Mitsu Build is not supposed to sound like an Masi Quattroporte & be faster ---LMAO---.

    And,MightyTurbo64
The 'BillHousing' --- did you have to source a flywheel, starter, & clutch package ??
    Or was that included ??
Exclusive of the Hydraulic upgrade of course!
    Thx!

Lol Ya it was a short video it's just a mile from my house i was just doing some test pulls after tuning. Probably a good thing I didn't take it farther it started leaking oil pretty bad from the turbo drain.

The bellhousings only came with the throw out bearing and bolts. I used the stock mighty max flywheel, pressure plate, and starter, a conquest slave cylinder and a 4runner clutch
