    Cab swap or motor swap

So I have a rotting out 84 ram 50 diesel 2wd that runs and a 81 ram 50 2.6 2wd with a bad motor. I was thinking of either swapping the diesel into the 81 or swapping the cabs. Which would be easier?

If the diesel is strong and running well I would pull the 2.6 and drop in the diesel w/trans.....BUT.....check your state emissions laws...I'm in California and the DMV laws here will not allow us to put an engine into a car/truck that is older than the car/truck it's going into.

He should be ok. The engine is an '84 and the truck is an '81. Do they even have to e-test being that old?

Andy...In Cal. we do not need a smog cert if the vehicle is 1975 or older and diesels have some type of emissions test required now but someone told me it is for tailpipe soot or something along those lines...can't confirm that tho...
