has anyone put a newer v8 in a 2nd gen mm
wasup everyone ? has anyone ever put a newer v8 in a 2nd gen mm. ive seen one v8 in 2nd gen and it was a older 350 with turbo 350 trans. instead of older 350 do a newer 5.3 and mate it to a 5 or 6 speed. can any one shed a little light on this situation

The "LS" engines are basically a direct swap for the old "350" the Engine and Tranny's use the same bolt pattern so you can use any old or new tranny on them. If you want a 6 speed auto out of a newer Camaro then you need the Tranny control pack to make it work but those are avalible aftermarket. You can also get the GM Connect and Cruise crate that comes with the LS, Tranny and all computers and control modules to drop it in ANYTHING.
The other nice thing about the LS is it can be a dry sump or wet sump oiling system and there are ton's of different style of oil pans so you can usually find one the will work in most cases with out having to modify or cut the pan.

Also besides the oil pan, the water pump is much more compact on the LS engines than on the older sbc depending on what accessory drive kit you go with.
