Ok, confused about kind of oil, Please help

Hello all, I just got my 1985 ram 50 with the 2.0 liter and am confused about the type of oil that I should use. I included a copy of the chart in the owners manual but really do not understand it. The previous owner said 5-30, Does this sound right? Thanks all.IMG_0722.JPGIMG_0722.JPG

That's what I use. Before I rebuilt it I was using 10-40. Higher mileage, looser tolerances. You'll get all kinds of different opinions.

I've been a 10-30 grade for this truck... it's oil.

They'll run on chicken grease, honestly.

Pennyman converted me to using turbo diesel oil like Shell Rotella or Chevron Delo because it has higher ZDDP content, and topping it off with Rislone between changes. I'm a believer.

is there a Noticeable difference in regards to valve train noise? mine is fairly quit and does not make hardly any noise but sometimes for a really short period of time. i am do for a change and currently use 10-30w Quaker state high millage because of the added zinc or Valvoline 10-30w

    Thanks

The Rislone is a super detergent and top cylinder oil - it will clean out sludge and quiet down everything. I quit using Quaker state when they left PA - builds up too much sludge in these motors.
