    '82 Refresh & Restore Build

Picked this 1982 Power Ram 50 a few weeks ago, and I have started to hunt down parts, and with the upcoming three day weekend I'm diving into it. The truck was sitting for about 10 years, but it runs, needs some work, but it will give me something to fix up for my daughter's first car. (She picked it out anyways) Now that I am digging into it, I thought I would start a thread showing all the work going into it. I thought about doing a v8 swap, but I already have enough $ going into performance mods on my daily, plus a 16 year old girl doesn't need a small block.

When we first got it, it had 4 different size tires and all of them were completely dry rotted, it's also missing a very hard to find grille

It's got the G54B 2.6L, it runs great when it warms up, still need to figure out why it's so hard to start. Will eventually probably just go to a weber.

The interior is where most of the parts are missing. What you see is all there is.

Floor pans have some serious cancer. At the time of writing this, I have already cut out the passenger floor pan, and am installing new 14 ga steel.

Slow loving process. Can't wait to see it finished.

Finished cutting out the passenger floor pan today, got the new metal all welded in. Threw on some peel 'n seal for some cheap sound deadening and an extra layer of protection from when the carpet gets wet in the winter.

Also had some aluminum diamond plate laying around, so I made a dash panel until I figure out what I'm going to do with that. Going to make some diamond plate door panels tomorrow. RagTime I will send you a PM about what you have.

Found a brand new grille so that got put on, and I threw on some new tires with some used rims. I tried to clean up the rust on the front passenger one.

    Had a productive day today...

Well turns out the crappy looking seat cover was covering up a less crappy original seat

    Got some carpet put in

    And made some door panels

Also, rebuilt one of the locking hubs. Next, when I get some $ back in the bank I'm going to have to rebuild the front suspension. Upper ball joints are shot, and it looks like the steering is about one pot hole away from breaking a tie rod. So, I'll update the next time I work on it.

So I got the starting issue sorted out thanks to Pennyman and Camoit. Now it starts up and runs great! Waiting on a shipment of parts to get the suspension done. Also waiting on the local parts shop to get a new brake light switch.

Yeah diamond plate can be sexxxy! Got sound deadener on the back of those door panels? Otherwise it'll sound like a drum and be freezing cold in winter. Any other plans for the interior?

I didn't put any sound deadener on the back of the panels, I did replace the plastic moisture/wind break behind them. I'm planning on getting new carpet eventually (so everything matches color wise), probably getting some thicker diamond plate and redoing the dash and making it a bit better, also installing a stereo, door speakers, speakers behind the seat. Will also be upgrading all the interior lights to LED's.
