    Wrecking Yard Motor

I was in the wrecking yard the other day and in the back corner of the engine room I found a 1984 Ram 50 engine (marked right on it). He said it has been in there a LONG time. No idea if it's a 2.0 or a 2.5.

My question... would all my Fuel Injection things swap on... and would this be a good engine to rebuild and swap in just so I have a fresh engine.

Any idea how much I could offer him?

if the timing cover on the front is plastic, and the exhaust ports are paired - its a 2.0. otherwise its a 2.6 and the FI will not bolt onto the motor without a lot of work.

OK.. I have access to another engine also with a 5 speed. I'll try to find out more about it.

What you are looking for is a 4G64 Wideblock. better off rebuilding the existing motor than pulling a swap for another tired old motor IMHO..

    Better yet Buy my Rig...

Nice turbo setup with AEM programmable tuning...see the for sale section.

converted the engine to look like a turbo eclipse, eliminated the distributor and set it up with a dual coil from the junkyard, I also had to change the throttlebody over to a Eclipse model, different ISC etc, only required a few more new wires to the harness, another junkyard donor piece. it also increases the inlet size. Otherwise the wiring and pinouts at the ECU are the same, Oh yes, I also have MUCH bigger injectors which requires the resistor module (Mitsubishi part) between the ECU & Injectors.

Otherwise buy my old Mitsubishi ECU from Noahwins with the e-proms.

Somewhere in the performance section, i did it early on when the board was new, It may have fallen off the disk by now.

you can see the truck and the progression of the build thru the years at my site www.mmeierle.com

Most tuners have experience with AEM, unless you are a deft tuner and can build the unit yourself I'd stick with the more commercial product.
Megasquirt is a home built, community support product. ultimately it's you choice on how much you want to bite off.
