1984 lowered 4.5" wheel fitment issue question - share your solutions

Hey guys, I've got an 84, 2wd, lowered 4.5" with some 15x8's, 2" drop springs and 2.5" drop spindles up front.

Initially the inner side of the wheel rubbed on the control arm when turning, I've done some clearance work on the control arm and reinforced it as well, anyone have pictures of work they've done to fit 15's on a super low truck? Don't worry about the body, I'm strictly talking suspension.

There's a rule about backspacing and drop spindles I can't remember -- search around and you'll find it. Pennyman1 knows a lot about this stuff. That might get you started.

The backspacing on the rims are what may be causing your problem. stock rims were 4 1/2inch back spacing. More than that and you will rub with the15s. With drop spindles you really need to trim the lip almost flush with the side of the uca and plate it, which it sounds like you did. In extreme cases, you may have to reangle the lower ball joint mount on the arm to clear and fix camber. Or use 16" rims.
