what to do with 1986 sport ram 50 with blown head gasket?

I had a great running truck till it overheated and the head gasket blew. I've put work in to it and never had major problems till now. If the truck had 4wd I probably would pay to get it fixed but I think I'm just gonna get another truck. Do people have interest in these trucks with such a major issue or is it something I just want to scrap?

It depends. 2.0 or 2.6? New body style or old body style?

There are a few 86.5 2nd Gens floating around out there. Do you have any interest in putting in any work? It's not worth much as is. Is it in good shape otherwise? Got pics?

It's first gen. I don't know if it would be worth it for me to put in the work (sounds a bit harder than most fixed I'm used to). It's in good condition otherwise. back.jpgengine.jpgmileage.jpgside.jpg

Looks like it's in really good shape. Convert it to diesel?

And guess who has a complete diesel engine with a wiring harness and matching 3.54 rear end, right here in Oakland?

sounds like a good idea, but I don't think I'm quite mechanically inclined and I don't want to put too much more effort into this truck. Also it's currently in LA.

Or you could sell it to me who's about an hour and a half away from L.A?? I'd be down to change the headgasket and then put it into my 4x4 that needs an engine!

Why not? I'm getting my parts truck this week but its a 2.0 not a 2.6 and I could put the 2.0 in the 2wd or sell the 2.0 and then put the 2.6 in my 4x4. And then you'd have a body to put the diesel in. I also will have 2 4x4 chassis and 2 2wd chassis. You could chose what you'd like!

You have power steering and AC (I think) right? That's a clean California truck, worth repairing and keeping.
