    89 mighty max2.0, rough idle

I picked this little truck up for $250 dollars because they couldn't figure out the problem. It runs great going down the road, plenty of power, but misses when idling, and stalls once in a while pulling into parking lots and such.It is a 2.0 the man i bought it from put a used carb on and used distributor in.The timing belt is a little worn but no bad,the egr was completely stopped up,plugs burnt white on ends,it was 180 out and the cap was flipped 180 to.Any advice as to where to go next and what timing components should be replaced will be greatly appreciated.
    THANKS

Definitely replace the timing and balance shaft belts, along with all the tensioners and pulleys for them. The problem is probably the carb, these things like to go bad after so many years, and there is so many parts inside to go bad, usually diaphragms and such. Maybe check your fuel filter, its under the bed on the side of the gas tank, new plug wires.

I had an 86 with a terrible idle. I swapped the carb for one from a 76 Plymouth arrow and it fixed my issue and was easily tuned...direct bolt on.
I found the reman carb on ebay for $60
