    No Seals???

Searched for a week or two looking for original rear transmission seal for 5-speed manual 1980 D-50 transmission with no luck.
Used SKF replacement which didn't work very well, cut down the leaking but not stopped. Shaft looks good as does the rear output shaft bearing.
Does anyone know where I can score a MD 703743 seal, or at least have had luck with an aftermarket one which did not leak?

    Thank you!

    I found this site http://www.yoyopart.com/oem/759581/m...-md703743.html
It seems to be also listing after market manufacturers of the seal and provides their part number. I have had luck contacting Mitsubishi dealer to get head bolts etc. It wouldn't hurt to try.

I've tried those contacts/part numbers, and have struck out in 4 weeks of searching.
Apparently only aftermarket seals are available and they leak when put in, at least the last two did. Housing is fine, shaft is fine with no wobbles ... they just leak .. drip .. drip ... drip for 10 minutes after parking.
Driving me nuts. HATE oil leaks.

Did you put a mic on the slip yoke to see how much it has warn on the seal side? Many times they will get a grove on them from the rubber and it wears out the steel to the point they leek.

I'll do that .. if I can find replacement seal. Otherwise the drip pan will have to do. ;-)

OR ... anybody know where I can score a new slip yoke for the 1980 D-50 5-speed? Or have a good one that is not worn or scored by the seal?

Need some help sorting this out: I found this part number for the slip yoke in the parts manual, MB000771, and this site shows it .. but for a much later vehicle. Will it work on the 1980 D-50 5-speed; what do you think .. match or no?

Here is another one for 90 - 91 dodge ram 50: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131867523697...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT . They should fit without problems - the output shafts are the same on all years AFAIK.

As long as its the same style tranny, manual to manual, and auto to auto. Auto trannies had a bigger output shaft from what I've encountered.
