    z71 wheels prob

    Sorry for being a pain on this, but i picked up a set of z71 wheels, I have a 1st gen, I think all its rubbing on the grease sert, my questions, anyone ran into the problem and is it just taking the grease sert out simple? Thanks

    That is a threaded Zerk fitting (grease gun) nipple for greasing up the joint. You can remove it and insert a bolt or get a different angle zerk. If you remove it, fill it first. Grease fill it until the old nasty stuff has squeezed through the edges of the rubber. You can't hurt them at all by over fill those. Some grease will escape when the zerk is removed, but at least you will have some in there when you remove and replace the bolt.

    You could also get some adapters for the wheels to allow more room too. I would have a fear of rubbing a rim that is so close to the steering components. There will be flex in the rim as you turn, plus the expansion of metal as it heats up. These will bring the rim closer to any item that it is close to now.
