Welcome to the forum.
Very nice truck
Welcome and consider yourself very fortunate! How an where'd you find it?

1994 MM 2wd (work in progress)
Welcome fellow Georgian.
Great looking little 4wd.
tow rig.jpgI found it in Atlanta on craigslist. Garage kept from new. Lots of tasteful upgrdes including a 2" reciever with electric trailer brakes, K&N filter, HD shocks, Superwinch locking hubs, HD swaybar, boot connecting cab and cap, etc... The truck is pretty much pristine with 108,000 miles. New in last 1000 miles: rebuilt transmission, rebuilt injection pump, clutch kit, tires, all fluids, brakes including master cylinder and more. Crazy.
The guy I got it from broke all 4 exhaust rockers by cranking on the cam bolt with an extended breaker bar while it was in gear. When it went, He heard ping ping ping ping. Everything looks good (except the rockers are broken). I'm thinking of buying this complete head (since the cam looks tired as well) http://www.ebay.com/itm/160699153873...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Any advice is welcome!
My other truck is a 1994 Toyota 4X4 extended cab with a Mercedes OM617 Turbo Diesel wedged in it. I towed the Mighty Max home with it on my tandem axle trailer. Great rig! 124HP and 170 ftlb of torque. Gets around 30mpg hwy and 26 around town.

There used to be a member on here that did the OM617 swap into a ram 50. That is a clean truck and I hope that the rockers are all he broke in the motor - I would think he bent valves as well - something made the rockers snap and a valve into the piston would do that. May want to pull the head to look. Welcome to the forum!

The guy i bought it from had already pulled the head. Everything, other than the rockers, looks fine. I don't want to take any chances though so I'm going to replace the whole head assembly as a unit (cam, rockers, valves, etc). There are no visible marks on the pistons though I'm sure they made contact with the valves. My machinist is inspecting the head now and will let me know the results. Even if it checks out, I'll go with a new 4D56 head assembly and sell the 4D55 stuff or keep it as a spare.
Rare to see a Mitsu diesel, most I've seen are Dodge. There's a guy in Oakland who has a like new Japanese made 4D55 head that he throws up on Craigslist and eBay all the time because he can't find a buyer. If you're in the market.
If it is a complete head with the cam and rockers I am definitely interested. Do you have contact info for him?
Camp out on sfbay.craigslist.org and check Auto Parts for 4D55. He relists it every now and then. Sometimes it's up on eBay. He was asking like $600 last time.
Thanks for the lead! I'll try to find it.
