    Igniter ballast?

When t to go change out my ignitor and ran into the fact that someone put electrical tape around the ballast to hold it together because it fell into pieces. I guess this is a common accurance? I ordered a new one here for reference...

You could have got another 50,000 miles out of that one with a fresh coat of tape.

Previous Owner strikes again. That's a creative way to squeeze some more life out of a $5 part.

neither will work for long as hot as that resistor gets - heat cracked it in the first place, so it still gets hot after it cracks. exhaust manifold repair putty might work, but its more than the resistor so why bother?

Is this part still holding up for you? I''m having the same problem and need to find a replacement ballast, but the part isn't listed for my 1989 Dodge Ram 50 anywhere.

Yes , some of the newer aftermarket coil packs have a built in ballast/resistor. I believe .also if you have a g63b the resistor is listed for sale in the link above.....
