    90 MM Macro Cab Totaled

The insurance company just told me my truck will be totaled for this damage!

Someone rear ended me at less than 20 MPH. Its crazy how little damage can total our trucks. I going to get it back plus $2k, it is 100% drivable but the tailgate doesn't open. Im trying to figure out if I should just get the tailgate working and put the money into other parts or take it somewhere and have them fix it all. Ideas?

One just to see how it was before

thats wild. My mightymax had about the same damage. I'd fix the tailgate and go for a smooth roll pan!

Sorry to here that... Thats an insurance company for you. If it's not new they just say junk it. I would fix it your self and use the cash on other parts. Air bags, engine what ever. Or build it into somthing that you would see in the movie Mad Max. The sky is the limit. No matter what you do it will have that salvaged title. That is always a bummer. My truck has a salvaged title 3 times over, so it's only worth the scrap price or what ever I can make it into.

Yea definitely sucks to hear. I agree I would get a new tail gate and also a smooth roll pan, w/ plate box, from grantkustoms.com

Thanks, I didn't know an aftermarket roll pan was available. Do you have a pic of one on a Mitsubishi truck? The one on the site is kind of generic.

On the grantkustoms site, if you are looking for anything for our trucks make sure to look under Dodge D50 as they dont have it listed under Mitsubishi Mighty Max

That's why I have my 1980 insured for more than Kelly BB - with a collectable vehicle policy with 250/500 unstacked and 20K value it's less than 300 a year with 0/100 ded. Since I don't drive it daily, its a great savings. I have both the Blackwood and Geronimo on the same policy with same values and coverage - 597/yr vs 1175/yr with standard coverage for the BW and limited use with Geronimo with Erie exchange and only 10K coverage.

Wow, that's pretty crazy, only a 20mph rear end collision? I accidentally hit an old dodge power wagon that my step dad had since his dad bought it brand new in 1964, I hit it at about 10 mph with the front drivers side of my truck after I had slid in the mud, and the Dodge rolled back a little, but my Max's bumper got bent, the headlight smashed and the marker light lens is now broken. Damage to the Dodge, a little bit of blue paint on its homemade bumper. Or what about a rear bumper on your truck, or is that just not cool enough?

I was completely shocked when they told me it was totaled, that hadn't even entered my mind with so little damage. They upped the offer to $2200 after I sent them all my receipts. seams fair to me considering it might cost me $500 to fix it.

I have access to a black stock bumper but the mounts hang under the body and I don't want them to drag, plus my front bumper is a chrome Toyota one and it wouldn't match. My dad suggested welding a bar behind the roll pan as a hidden bumper or maybe ill have a hidden hitch behind the license plate.

I picked up a bed and tailgate from the Pick and Pull today for $200 to replace mine. It is in very good shape with only minor dents and no rust. I decided it would be easier to do that than to fix the bent pieces on mine and I'm going to paint the whole truck anyway so color wasn't much of an issue. It will also give me an opportunity to redo the wheel wells to be more stock looking, the frame is C notched so I still have some work to do.

I got some weird looks on the freeway
