carb backfire.
So as I was driving today my Ram decides to back fire my whole trip. So I belie it is running rich. Any ideas? Or does it just need a good carb adjustment? Thanks

Did it just start to do it? I would look at timing then the jet valves and adjustment. then the cam timing in that order. One leads to another and when you got the cover off it's only a quick look to check things.

Somthing is getting off. Check timing and plugs, cap rotor. All the usual things. You will find it. I bet 5 bucks it's a jet valve going bad.
Do a vacuum gage test and see if the needle is holding steady or whipping back and forth.

If so. I have spares and a delete kit. 👍

I wouldn't have commented on what the carby backfire issue could be caused by - none of the G63B engines that were installed in Australian sold vehicles had jet valve heads. I did get a cheap low km G62B from an importer that has the jet valve head. Good to know that this could be a symptom of a roasted jet valve.

Should I delete the valves if this is the issue?

Yes get rid of them.. We had a guy that had one going bad and it would blow vacuum lines off. Along with the backfire and low power.

So I deleted the jet valves and it rid of the problem for about a day, then it began to backfire yet again. :/ I'm checking the timing with a light, when I can actually see the light and marks.

Did you check the valves with a vacuum gage. The needle should hold nice and steady

It's crazy how much a little thing can change so much on engines.
