    engine swap v8?

I got 88 ram 50 2.6l auto with overdrive.mitor finally locked up.trabs good.what all motors will bolt up to trans.not worried alot about motor mounts.doed eclipse have motor trans that will fit? I really want to put gm v8.ive read about people putting 360/318 in them.

    What are my options?

What year cars should I look for at junk yard.

And if I put small block gm will I have to custom the trans mounts too? I know some people have tried it on here.

Someone should chime in and comment on your request. The V8 and V6 guys are in and out. It mostly is a preference that is all your own on the swaps. Seems everyone has a different way and no one has the same. Just got to go for it and check out others threads on their builds. They always post much info when they go through a big engine swap for record keeping and for others to use.

you can find 318 pretty easily. Id look on Craigslist. If I remember right the late 80's dakota's had them along with the snub nose vans.

If you can find a 15 passenger van they had the 5.9l 360 in them. Find one complete mid 90s were fuel injected. They came with a 727 behind them.

dogkotas didn't have 318s in them until 90 for the shelby version, and 91 for the rest of them. 92 up were magnum motors, multi port FI. not worth the work to install them - low on power and high on fuel consumption. I had a 91 dogkota - the name says it all.

Is it possible to change rod bearing with motor in truck? I know it's rod or main bearing.it starts up and quits.i may have scared the crank too much by cranking though.

Lift the truck, remove oil pan, center supports, or whatever else is in the way.
Should be able to do it. If your crank has heated the bearing coating onto it the job will be harder. Does the engine screech like a loose fan belt before it quits? Also if it quits from a bearing, they usually lock the motor up by welding the rod to the crank or crank to the main journals via the bearing overheating and melting the coating. Surprised you can turn her over still. Have oil pressure too?
