1990 Mighty Max Keeps Cutting Out

I have a 1990 2.4L manual Fuel Injected Mighty Max. The problem is that while driving the truck when it gets to higher rpms it cuts out, but if you switch it to a higher gear it picks back up but will do the same thing and cut out at higher rpms. I was wondering if anyone had any idea as to what would be causing this problem.

Thanks for the response. I did replace the MAF but I also replaced the fuel pump and that died so nothing is really off the table. When I put the new MAF sensor in the truck it ran really good for about a day, so im thinking that it could be that as the one I got was used.

how would that be causing the problem? The engine is still running while it cuts out, It seems like the gas pedal stops working but the clutch and brake still work. I would post a video of what is happening but left my video camera at my house while I am here for the summer.
