If its a 2.6 it's a pita because you need to lift the motor a lilnto get the pan off.

You should try the 2.0L in an 86. The mounts are a total PIA to line up. I found if you jam a screw driver in the hole and line them up as best as possible tha way it can help a little. I'm not sure if its the bolt threading or what but getting them started is not fun. I spent almost 3 hours one night trying to get one lined up. I finally undid the other side and lined up the hard side and stuck a rod into the holes to line them up and fianlly got it. They are difficult.

I will give that a shot. Was it still hanging from the hoist when you did this?
