    86 Chevette with KA24DET swap

Ok stared a new weird project we are dropping a KA24DE from a 240SX in a Chevette and added a turbo to it. The engine was built by the PO for boost then scrapped the project and went with an RB20 not knowing that the KA is fine for up to 400hp. We are setting it up to run 7-10lbs boost and should push around 225-230hp at the flywheel which is 4 times the power that the Chevette's 1.6L put out stock.

Have to go to a KA truck oil pan with the rear sump and move the stock Chevette's engine mounts 2" forward into the holes that are set up for a Diesel Chevette. The KA's stock mounts fit on the Chevette's stock frame to engine mounts. It also looks like the trans will line up with the Chevette's X member with new holes drilled into it to except the KA's mount.

Here's a few pic's of the first fit up.

Still need to clock the turbo and do some fitting but looks like it's going to work.

Ok, how about the reason for the build and the cost for the build.

It's all fun and games until someone has to write a check. There are so many other cars to do this to and the chevette was picked? It sure is a patriotic paint scheme on that engine too.

lol Project is on hold for a few more months as he's now thinking of dropping in an RB20. The reason he picked a Chevette is he loves Sleepers and wants to build something no one thinks is fast. His current Sleeper is an 93 Tercel with a 200hp 1.3L 4E-FTE out if a Toyota Starlet. It's funny watching him pull away from all the Skylines, WRX's , EVO's and 240sx's that all the kids have that they think are "FAST"

DUDE!!! my first car was a Toyota Tercel with a 1.3L turbo JDM motor swap and a bigger garret T25 off a junk yard motor. we called it the TERRORCELL instead of tercel lol. it wasn't super balls fast but it would deff make a mustang owners eyes turn big as silver dollars when you blow there doors off on the interstate. good times, good times
