I just purchased my first Mighty Max! Its an 89 2.0 5sp 2wd. I've been looking for one for a while, but was waiting for the right one to come along.
I also own a 1981 Dodge Challenger (Mitsubishi Sapporo) with a 4G63 swap. The plan is to drive the MM as is for the next 6 months or so, and after the Diamond Star Shootout, I am going to swap the Challengers 4G63 set-up into the MM. I have owned the Challenger since 2002, and unfortunately the rust has taken over... Here's a few pics of the MM and the Challenger. Plus a little vid of the Challenger at the DSM Shootout. Tell me what you think... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQSUV2Bz_64
since you have the motor worked out for the challenger, the truck swap should be a piece of cake. Nice work and welcome to the forum - we want pics when you do the swap. How much power is that putting out - I see a lot of high end parts there.
Thanks, I've never Dynoed it but I am assuming somewhere between 500-600hp, It runs pretty consistant 11.0's @ 129. Its currently running a GM Auto trans, but when I do the swap I am going bacl to 5spd... I want the MM to be more of a daily driver...
The Challenger has been at the shootout ey year since 2003. It's definitely going to be difficult to give up on it. I'm still convinced it's the only swapped Challenger/Sapporo in the U.S.
As for the engine, it's a G4CS 2.4l Hyundai Block, Ross/Crower @9.0 compression, some head work and crower 272 cams. It used to have a 2.0 but it always had a hard time getting the boost up while staging on the trans brake. Once I did the 2.4l it will make 30 lbs of boost standing still... RWD 4G's are by far the most entertaining engine/drivetrain layouts I've ever driven. Can't wait to do the Max!
