    old parts live on

    Hello,
Just purchased a 1983 power ram sport 50 4wd prospector for my daughter & look forward to applying the many parts I have from johnbaker "mitsubishi truck specialists" which are on my rusting 1986 mitsubishi (i purchased almost every part they carried except for the fiberglass hood), also have a C.R. Laurence "ragtime mini conversion" on my 1978 2wd.

Like them chrome headers you have there. I had to have mine shipped from Australia not to long ago and the price was very reasonable.

If you are interested, I have 3 NOS rag time mini tops for your truck - just the tops, no frames. That 94 catalog must have been one of his last for the mitsu trucks - I have older ones I haven't posted yet. Glad to see another person on here that bought stuff from him - have an original mikuni muscle cam from the early 80's unused in a head I had redone - may finally put the head on Geronimo - head's only been sitting for about 30 years... BTW we need pics of all your trucks - welcome to the forum!

thanks! fyi-(according to my notes i wrote in the service manual) when i put the johnbaker cam in along with mikuni side-draft (around 1987) it immediately trashed the lifters and caused: engine tapping, cold running, poor cold starting, gas in oil, & clogged catalytics. I ended up purchasing the johnbaker rocker arm assembly & chrome header. the mikuni demanded a centrifugal fuel pump (burned out the electric diaphragm pump that came with the mikuni) to keep up with highway speeding (even though i purchased the cagle). to keep an eye on all of this i mounted a fuel pressure guage in front of the steering wheel (yeah i know don't light up inside the cab). when the snow melts (still have about 2'...but i've been rushing it by clearing around the 86 with my backhoe) i plan to fire it up & will post a youtube link (sounds like a mean snowmobile). peace

I had an 85 ram 50 Royal I put that cam in with the weber 32/36 and the thorley header - the power came up so much it tore the tranny apart - it had 100k on it at the time, although I had someone put a clutch in it and he used a screwdriver to take out the rear seal on the tranny and put a screwdriver sized hole between the housing and the seal rendering the seal worthless. Found that out when someone else put a different tranny in it for me - I didn't do that kind of work at that time.

That is an interesting pic of the motor, but that can't be the original motor in the truck - all the d-50s I ever saw from 79 up to 82 were even spaced ports. Does look awesome that way - have to look at your gallery pics.

Now all we need you to do is pull off the header and send it to me so I can get them reproduced. It's all we need. It's the missing peace of the puzzle. I'll send it back just as soon as the jig is built. Should only take a couple of weeks to get it built. From there we can have them up on the DH header thread. Then we would have the paired port to go with the even port.

I was thinking the same thing - would really help with a real thorley header to built the jigs off of.
