    Removing Gauge Cluster

I'm trying to replace my bulbs with LEDS.

I removed all teh screws and the whole thing is loose, but it doesn't come all the way out. I'm afraid to pull on it and break a wire.

Is there a trick to this?

Did you disconnect the speedometer cable? It's pretty simple, there's a speed-release on the end of the cable housing.

There should be about three harnesses that need to be detatched, and the emergency flasher switch needs to come out by unplugging it.

It only comes forward about an inch, not enough to reach behind there.

Those are the right ones. If u have the reg gauge cluster, there are only 3 that light the face. I did mine with 5, I installed 1 in each turn signal indicator. Also, after u install them, test it before u reinstall the speedo. The bulbs twist in, if u have the little base backwards, the contacts don't touch. The hardest part for me was getting the speedo cable to click back in. Otherwise it's an easy job

Doesn't the led lights need some type of resistor installed also? to cut the watts down so it doesn't pop the led's? They will also need to be adjustable so when you turn the light knob that turns on lights the dash lights can be dimmed still. Unless you just use them at 100% all the time, then it doesn't matter if dimmer works or not. Or apparently these are built especially for the application then that is all wasted typing I did, lol.
Removing the speedo insert, try to be careful pulling since the plastic is very brittle up there. It gets sun continuously and is quite old. Any hard twisting or pulling can break the plastic mounting pieces off that the securing screws go into.

These leds are designed to be used as a full replacement, everything is built in.

The description also says they are dimmable.

It could well be that the flange from the speedo cable is catching on the hole it comes through. Try slowly moving the cluster up and down and side to side (in a circular motion) while gently forward. You should be able to get it out about 3 inches.

When you do get it out, please give all those flies and other insects laying in that craddle a decent burial. You may keep any change you find, but hard currency goes to advice givers. :D

That is awesome that's the first band u saw. I never saw them with Danzig, but I've seen Danzig more times than I can remember. Last time around was the tour he played Danzig, Samhain, and misfits sets.
The bulbs I have don't need resistors and my dimmer still works, I leave mine up all the way because mine only have 1 led per bulb. The ones u have prob will be brighter. I plan on doing those when I get around to installing my tach gauge.
