    Warmed up engine won't restart

93 MM 2.4 runs great when first start, after a short drive does not want to restart. once in a wile it will backfire but thats it until it sets for a wile 1to1.5 hrs. at most, then it will start and run fine.
it has always ran great, i checked all the usual things emission all good, ign good, fuel good. does anyone have any idea what it could be , or has anyone had this sort of issue before. i have checked these items more than once many more than twice, i do make mistakes and i'm pretty old but that should be on my side. i need help...

Have you checked/replaced the fuel filter? When they start to clog up, but as the vehicle sits a while, some debris can gradually drift out of the filter media, allowing just enough fuel through for it start and run for a bit before the fuel flow draws enough debris back into the media to cause fuel starvation -- rinse, lather, repeat.
