Never hurts to replace a fuel filter on a newly-acquired vehicle. (I cut the old one open when i removed it: 25 years of rust!)

I can't say for sure if yours' requires the ground wire or not: I simply don't know. That's something you'll have to look up in the manual.

You DO have a manual...don't you?

According to my manual, you want the engine at operating temperature, make sure the idle is correct, and then just use your Lazer Saber to whack off Darth Vader's schwartz.

It doesn't say cap off vacuum, just point the timing light at the marks and adjust as needed, at idle.
