    4D55 Turbo

Hey all, New to the forum. I have a 1983 Dodge Power Ram 50 with the 4D55 engine. I just had the engine completely rebuilt minus injection pump and turbo. It has a TC05-10 turbo on it. I am wondering if there is a rebuild kit available for this turbo and typical cost? Also I was thinking of putting a newer TD04-09 turbo on the truck. Would this be worth while to do and what would be needed to make the conversion? Is it bolt on and where could I get needed turbo? Thanks for responses in advance.

I would not get rid of the tc05-10a. Just send it to be rebuilt. Cost is about $350 . Those have a bigger impeller than the tc04 . I would only go tc04 if you were switching to water and oil cooled which the only benefit is longevity. Also tc04 is wastegated and tc05 is not. The 83 4d55's out performed all other years due to it's turbo. Forget the rebuild kit as most have to be honed out to fit an oversize bearing. You will just waste $100 and not get anywhere.
