    A904

So the 904 was in the 1gn trucks and the 2gn has the A500 does anybody know if they can be swapped? at least how the mounts will bolt up? My srt swap im going to do will have either a 727 or a 904 behind it and im trying to figure out how hard or easy it might be to do either one. I know a 904 can be built up pretty decent, and is smaller and lighter and was avaliable so it might be a better option, if it bolts in. If i have to fabricate everything anyways then its pointless and i will just use the 727 i already have since i know it can handle what im going to throw at it

its not that simple - the 1st gen auto was a "baby" 904 built by warner aisin in japan under license for mopar. The A500 on the second gen is the same deal, although I have seen posts saying they are real mopar a500s. The second issue is the bell housing bolt pattern - 1st gen are narrow bolt pattern, 12.5" on the lower bolt holes, and the second gens are wide bolt pattern at 13.25" . There are some narrow 2nd gen autos out there, but are very rare. If the bolt patterns match, you can interchange them, with the torque convertor - the flex plate may need changed to match the convertor or redrilled. There will also be some changes to the shifter linkage for the overdrive button, and grounding the wire that goes to the overdrive actuator to bypass the thermo switch that only lets overdrive work when the motor is at operating temp. I have only seen column shifters for the trucks for the OD, but you can use a shifter from a starquest or montero for a floor shifter conversion.

    Found on another forum...http://moparforums.com/forums/f7/swap-904-a500-2484/
You are really going to want to get your hands onto an A518 as those trannies are a little stronger and more reliable than the A500 is, plus not to mention they were behind all the 318s and 360s in the full size vans and trucks that Chrysler built before the introduction of the Magnum motors.
As far as the flex plates and tcs go, I believe that they do. As far as the diameters go, I'm not sure.

There looks to be some images also posted, but not sure if it pertains to your request.

Im thinking of a 904 if it will bolt onto the trans crossmember it would elimnate one fab piece this is mating to a chrysler 2.4 not a 4g64 the bellhousing would be a sbm unit and overdrive i do not care about if it cannot bolt in then i dont care and if it cannot handle 1000+ hp theres no point i will make a 727 fit which it seems i might have to at this point, which is fine

are you using a 904 with a aftermarket overdrive unit, because the 904 doesn't have overdrive, the A500 and A518 have overdrive

a500s are 904 / 999 with an added on OD. I see in another post where to get the adaptor to make the 904 / 727 fit these motors

im not worried about overdrive this build will not be for economy with 2 turbos nitrous and 2000cc injectors lol not a recipe for economy rather for the strip, although i might try picking up a regular cab MM to do this with and keep the 4g64 in JJ im sure the extra truck doesnt help me go faster
