    ported vacuum or not

hey guys i have a weber on my 88 2.6 and love it. i was timing it today and when i reconnected the vacuum line to the dist the idle increased. i thought it was hooked to a ported connection but guess not. does it need to be? on my 74 roadrunner i always hook to a ported connection. i set the timing at 6 degrees btc with a dial back light. when i cut the truck off it wants to diesel(run on).

use the ported vacuum fitting on the carb - regular vacuum goes the wrong way compared to ported vacuum - that is why the idle increased due to the distrib going full advance at idle, and the run on at shut off.
