Roller 5.2 in my '88 Max

This IS a long term project.. I started about a year and a half ago (maybe more, got soo much stuff going on, I can't remember) trying to adapt a Chevy drive train into.
You know that saying, Measure twice-cut once.. Well, I thought that the center link was closer to the crossmember. Well, it's NOT. NOT even for a Chevy II oil pan. I thought of using thick walled pipe bent to clear the pans' cut out. I really should've done that now that I think of it..
SO, I built up a .060 forged piston 283, comp ex268, Vortec heads, Air-gap style intake and of all things a THERMOQUAD.. Whoohoo!

BUT, wouldn't fit, plans changed and I found a cheap Chrysler/Jeep 5.2 roller. New rings, aftermarket EngineQuest heads, infront of a
    NV3500 5spd from a '97 Dodge ram 1500. (Self built)Pics later..
Gotta jet to look at another car..

I LOVE the Look of those Wheels on there !!!

Did you have to do a Hub swap for the 5 lug ???
Or does that generation come with them ???

Can't wait to see the rest of this conversion !

What's the weight difference between the 318 Mopar and the Mitsubishi 4 banger....are you keeping the stock coils or going with a V6 set-up?

OH.. another thing. THE 5.2 ONLY CAME WITH A REAR SUMP!!!
Just guess what a surprise it was to me when I found THAT OUT..

So, I got a front/mid sump pan (like the older 318's) off Ebay for 40+ and have to cut the rail off and a 360 pan that I'm going to cut the lower part of pan off and adapt the two.
From what I've found, the 'magnum' blocks have the 360 style mounting dims, and the older pans will have a HUGE gap front and smaller in back.

I'll try and get pics later today.

I'm sure you've seen this one on Youtube..

    Oil pan "ISSUES"..

The 360 rear sump, truck pan fits the magnum pan rail BUT, the early mid sump pan WON'T fit the magnum
    pan rail.
The clean, gold one is the early style. The nasty one is the 360 truck pan.
The gold one's holes line up, but looky at the gap. And if I wanted to push that nasty pan down, you'd see that the gap is fine. Since the gasket is sticking up some.
I don't know why it goes link instead of direct.. It's worked for years like that..

Yea they do look like conquest/starion wheels. To swap to 5-lug you use Toyota hubs and rotors up front, and redrill the rear axles or swap in a toyota axle. There is a sticky on the 5-lug swap in the forums somewhere.

Did I ever tell you guys that I hate computers??
I thought that I had it down on posting pics but alas.. THEN, Imageshack seems to delete pics on it's own, and some that I can't remember what they were/are.

Yes, I owned a few Quest's and used those rims to fit with the whole Toyota conversion. And with some parts I got from Merrill and will be trying to install the spindles, big brakes and such this week if it doesn't rain more.

The 'shop' that centered the motor and made the mounts, made some HD mounts but not the way that I WOULD'VE. But nonetheless, the 5.2 is in there along with the NV3500.
According to the pics that I doo have pics of before and now that it doesn't look like it dropped that far.
You gotta remember that it's a ONE TON truck!! (the only ones that I remember being in the 1-ton classification were like the Toyota dually flat-beds and the like. When one of my buddy's from work asked me of engine noise in his and it being 'old' I snatched it up. One doesn't see the long beds around here let alone the 1-tons.

There's literally TONS of stuff yet to do before its' roadworthy. (I hope I didn't make a bad choice on motor/trans choice!)
The engine sits in there with what looks like enough room, but then there's NO ROOM for the stock steering box and will have to go to a rack n pinion and will have to cut the rad support to 'mod' in an efficient radiator or two.
I'm hoping that I can utilize the serpentine belt system along with the compressor, but don't quite know for sure if the serpentine belt can be run without the power steering pump. (didn't really want to be forced to special order parts. Most every magnum motor that I've seen HAS PWR STEERING)

I'll try and snap some pics later today since it's suppose to be nice and sunny..

Speaking of pics, this is what I 'do' with imageshack..
sign in/ albums/ browse through pics/ RIGHT click on the little 3-bar icon for the drop down menu/ right click the DIRECT LINK to "COPY"/
right click to a line in my thread window/ and paste the link...
I don't know what else to do to have the pics appear without a link, just the pic showing in the thread..
