oil pump gasket open or restricted?

hey guys i just did the silent shaft deletes on my 88 2.6 and while i had it tore down i decided to replace the oil pump. the silent shaft delete came with an open gasket. the instructions included in my fel pro head set said that on 83 and later 2.6 engines you should use a restricted gasket for the oil pump. ive tried to buy an restricted gasket like the truck came with but no one carries it. will it make a difference if i use the open gasket? thanks

Hey 1340, if you have an idea of how the original OEM gasket looked on the truck, you can always try making one to match. See the thread below from camoit, it has a nice walk-through for making a custom gasket.

Just what is the difference between them.
The pressure regulator controls the pressure. So I don't see any problem. But I never herd of 2 different gaskets. All a pump does is make flow.

If you overfill engine oil the oil is restricted in draining back to the hole in side of block because the hole is restricted. I'm pretty sure this is what the restricted gasket does which I don't think I ever overfilled my oil before..

Anyway, I did some research on this part and here is what I could find on the gasket.

the b2600 mazda website recommends that you modify the oil pump gasket to prevent oil pump starvation, so the one you have will work fine. BTW, the B2600 site is for modified 2.6 mitsu motors - mazda bought 2.6 gas motors in the late 80s to put into their trucks until they built a version of it in the early 90's.
