anybody know what kind off 4clyder motor and transmission would go in a 83 dodge ram d50 4x4? I don't want the original motor due to not much power. would a Mitsubishi eclipse motor work? and what kind of Manuel transmission would fit on it?
    thanks

You probably would like updating your engine instead of replacing it. You can install fuel injection system, headers, turbos, and more. The stock engines are quite nice when you tweak them correctly. The items to enhance your already installed motor are available depending on how hard you look and want to spend. There is a mass amount of ideas to choose from. Once you decide on which way your going, you will probably make many changes along the way.
I have a 2.0L 86 and chose to rebuild, header, weber carb, race cam, among other updates and I am quite happy with the extra hp. Though if your looking for big hp, maybe think of a v6 or v8. You want to examine all the variations because they all cost money and availability is another issue. These trucks are worth fixing up and they have a mountain of potential.
